Enclosures & Housings.
Motor housings, electrical enclosure bodies, solenoid housings, and terminal boxes for electrical OEMs. Aluminium's non-magnetic properties, dimensional stability, and powder coating performance make it the standard material for electrical enclosure applications.
Sector Overview
Electrical
Electrical equipment housings must meet dimensional requirements for motor and bearing fit, sealing interfaces, and conduit entry positions — while providing the environmental protection demanded by IP rating specifications. Aluminium is the preferred material: it offers structural rigidity, electromagnetic compatibility (non-magnetic), and accepts powder coating that can provide colour coding, electrical isolation, and corrosion protection.
SAPL produces motor housings, enclosure bodies, solenoid housings, and junction boxes in ADC12 and A380 via HPDC. Stator bores and bearing housings are CNC-machined to H7 or tighter tolerance. Conduit entry threads are tapped and gauged. Powder coating is applied in our in-house 5-tank pre-treatment line — providing the coating adhesion required for IP-rated enclosures in industrial environments.
For electrical enclosures requiring dimensional verification of IP sealing surfaces, we can provide inspection reports confirming O-ring groove dimensions and mating face flatness. All coating batches are tested for adhesion per ISO 2409.
What OEMs Require
Understanding your requirements
These are the recurring requirements SAPL sees from OEMs and procurement teams in this sector — and how our process and quality system addresses them.
Accurate bearing and stator interfaces
Motor assembly performance depends on bore concentricity and roundness. SAPL machines bearing bores to H7 and verifies concentricity by CMM before dispatch.
IP rating sealing surface geometry
O-ring groove dimensions and lid mating face flatness determine IP rating achievability. These dimensions are machined and verified by CMM or gauging per batch.
Powder coating for industrial environments
Industrial electrical enclosures require coating that resists oils, cleaning agents, and humidity over long service lives. Nano-ceramic pre-treatment and controlled cure parameters are standard on all enclosure work.
Thread accuracy for conduit entries
Metric and PG conduit threads are tapped and gauged with thread plug gauges. Thread depth and pitch are verified before dispatch.
