Tractor covers, PTO housings, pulley bodies, and implement castings for agricultural and off-highway equipment OEMs. Heavy-duty powder coating over nano-ceramic pre-treatment for components exposed to mud, UV, fertilizers, and mechanical vibration.
Sector Overview
Agriculture & Off-Highway
Agricultural and off-highway equipment operates in some of the harshest environments aluminium castings face. Components are exposed to sustained UV, mechanical vibration, impact, fertiliser splash, hydraulic fluid, and abrasive soil particles. Surface protection is as important as dimensional accuracy — and the coating must maintain adhesion for the service life of the equipment.
SAPL's 5-tank nano-ceramic pre-treatment converts the aluminium surface to a chemically bonded ceramic layer before powder coating is applied. This produces significantly better adhesion than conventional phosphate pre-treatment and is proven to resist the chemical and UV exposure typical in agricultural applications. Cross-cut adhesion to ISO 2409 is tested every production batch.
Structural geometry — mounting boss dimensions, bolt hole patterns, and mating face flatness — is verified by CMM or precision gauging before dispatch. For components with close-tolerance machined features (shaft bores, bearing seats), CNC machining is performed in-house and inspected before coating.
What OEMs Require
Understanding your requirements
These are the recurring requirements SAPL sees from OEMs and procurement teams in this sector — and how our process and quality system addresses them.
Long-term coating durability
Agricultural components must maintain coating adhesion and corrosion resistance for equipment service lives of 10–15 years. Our nano-ceramic pre-treatment + powder coating system passes 500+ hour neutral salt spray and UV cycle testing.
Chemical resistance
Exposure to fertilisers, pesticides, diesel, and hydraulic fluid is standard in agricultural environments. Powder coating selection and film thickness are specified for chemical resistance where required.
Dimensional accuracy on mating faces
PTO housings and cover plates must mate accurately for sealing. Mating faces are machined and flatness verified before dispatch.
Robust batch marking
Agricultural OEMs require batch identification for field service and warranty management. Component marking (part number, batch ref) is applied per customer specification.
